ABOUT US

The Company

Since its founding in 1997, La Dual Band has focused on the classics—not because they are "modern" or “up to date” but because they are truly alive. They have the power to infuse our lives with meaning and help us make sense of the world – even for those encountering them for the first time, making them particularly valuable for young audiences.

Since 2015, In partnership with Fondazione Artepassante, La Dual Band has created and runs "Il Cielo sotto Milano," a 99-seat theatre nestled within the station of the Passante di Porta Vittoria (Viale Molise) in Milan—a venue committed to serving the community.

La Dual Band features a troupe of actors who are either native English speakers or perfectly bilingual, enabling the company to perform in both languages and establishing it as a key presence of English theatre in the city.

In 2016, on occasion of the Shakespeare400 celebrations, La Dual Band founded Nutshell Theatre, specifically dedicated to original language productions. Since then a significant part of their repertoire is in English.

Our mission: to be clear and faithful to our texts

The format we have crafted reaches out to students in a way that is clear without being simplistic

Our aim is for them to experience it in its true form thanks to clarity in interpretation and staging, with unwavering fidelity to the original text.

Each year, Nutshell Theatre  adds new titles to its repertoire, featuring five Shakespeare plays, as well as works by Dickens, Lewis Carroll, Oscar Wilde, and Pinter. We work with many Italian and English-speaking schools across Milan and beyond, including a special collaboration with Teatro Binario 7 in Monza and ERT (Emilia Romagna Teatro), that has brought our productions to Modena and Bologna over the past three years.

N.B. The company is available to meet the students before all shows, and always proposes a debate in the theatre at the end of the shows.
