Richard of Gloucester is surprisingly charming; he wittily lets us in on his schemes, making us feel like his partners in crime, even though he's a "lump of foul deformity." Though everyone mocks him, Richard remains unaffected: he has other business to attend to, and a very clear goal: the crown. Nothing or no-one can stop him, except himself.
Our cast of five actors skillfully takes on 28 different roles, showing great teamwork and talent. It is the story of a dysfunctional family where women - queens and mothers - both endure and inflict pain. The intricate schemes and twists unfold through quick costume changes that add a touch of comedy and a cinematic flair to the show.
The crown is there for the taking, but once it’s on your head thanks to murder, how to reconcile it with your conscience? Shakespeare shows us the importance of understanding history – i.e. ourselves.
Suitable for ages 12 and up.
